We are always excited to share details about the ICB and what makes us unique!

Firstly, we are Independent External Examination body - we assess competency.   This is important, as it means that we are not a training provider and we don't run the courses or provide training materials.  Our Accredited Colleges to that.

We have been appointed by QCTO (Quality Council for Trades and Occupations), to conduct examinations on a number of Registered Qualifications that are on the NQF (National Qualifications Framework), and to then issue the relevant qualifications.

In order for our Programmes to be delivered, we have about 500 Approved Training Providers, who are all registered with DHET (Department of Education and Higher Training), to run ICB courses and training for our programmes.

Before getting started, there are 3 big decisions, that will determine how you join the programme.  Please take some time to go through these on our website (click the links below)

Once you have decided on a programme, we highly recommend that you enrol via one of our accredited Training Providers. The easiest way to connect with possible Training Provider's is to use our "FIND A PROVIDER" facility on our website: Simply go to www.icb.org.za/where-to-study, choose a few colleges close to you, and ask them to send you options and a free quote!

If you rather decide to register with us directly, you can simply click through to the Student Portal from the website, and:
  • Create a student Profile (no payment needed)
  • Register with the ICB as a student (Registration Fee payable)
  • Enter for exams
  • Pay your ICB fees using a credit card, Snapscan, or EFT

After registration, you will receive confirmation emails and guidance on the next steps.

After you have completed an ICB programme, there are various routes thereafter.  See this article about ICB Recognition for more information.
